Manchester United are reportedly keeping a close eye on Rafael Leao and sent scouts to observe the Milan star during the Champions League clash with Chelsea.

The 23-year-old Portuguese forward was awarded the Serie A Most Valuable Player title for his work in the Rossoneri’s Scudetto success last season, scoring 11 goals and providing 10 assists across 34 league games. Leao has continued impressing this season and has contributed to eight goals in his eight Serie A appearances.

As reported by The Mirror, Erik ten Hag is a huge admirer of Leao and sent Manchester United scouts to observe the Milan forward in their Champions League defeat to Chelsea earlier this week.

Leao’s contract expires with the Rossoneri in 2024 and his possible renewal is one of the hot topics surrounding the club. A five-year deal is prepared and negotiations are currently ongoing.

Chelsea and Manchester City are also keeping a close eye on Leao and he’ll likely be a key figure in next summer’s transfer window, should a renewal not be signed.
