Manchester United’s Director of Football John Murtough has left now Turin after meeting with the mother and agent of Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot.

The Red Devils are keen to add the 27-year-old Frenchman to their midfield before the end of this summer’s transfer window, desperate to inject a little more life into Erik ten Haag’s team after their poor showing in the defeat to Brighton. Rabiot’s contract expires with Juventus next year and the club are happy to let him leave.

Tuttosport details how Manchester United are willing to pay around €18m for Rabiot, but they haven’t reached an agreement with the player yet regarding his salary. The Frenchman is reportedly asking for a salary of around €8-10m net per season, something the Premier League side aren’t willing to pay.

Murtough met with Rabiot’s mother and agent Veronique yesterday in Turin to continue the negotiations in person, and terms were still not agreed. Things are seemingly moving forward positively, though.

Ten Hag is confident that some reinforcements will be added to his squad before the end of the transfer window, commenting on the market strategy in a press conference earlier today.

“I’m happy, I think we’re cooperating really well. I cannot tell about any individuals, I cannot talk about players under contract at other clubs.”

  1. This guy salary is only worth less than 3 million a year salary. Juve learn the hard way from Rabiot and Ramsey. Should trust in young players a bit more.

  2. They’re chasing Depay now. Another flop from Barcelona. Barcelona transfers have traditionally not done well at Juve, case in point Arthur. Some clubs just never learn. Keep forking out huge salaries and get burned instead of promoting, building and making better use of their youth systems. They make these players instant millionaires for doing very little. What incentive do players like Rabiot have to even motivate themselves when clubs are already throwing millions at them for being mediocre? Think about this for a moment, these clubs are actually negotiating with this man’s mother regarding millions in compensation. It’s comical when you think about it. They just sit back, laugh at the club’s stupidity and ride the gravy train.

  3. Which team is dumber here: Juve who paid Rabiot a salary of 7.5m net when Rabiot is worth 3m or Man U who want to pay Juve 18m for a guy who Juve would let go for free!
On top of that Rabiots mom wants him to get a raise!
    Lol

  4. “I cannot talk about players under contract at other clubs.”

That’s respectable. Unlike the scum at Bayern.
