Manchester United, Chelsea and Newcastle United are reportedly interested in Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, but might not reach the €65m asking price.

This is already a significant discount from the €100m that Lazio President Claudio Lotito claims he rejected from a Premier League side only a couple of years ago, but the contract is running down to June 2024 and the failure to qualify for the Champions League again requires some sacrifices.

Biancocelesti director of sport Igli Tare has just returned to Italy from a few days in London, where it’s reported he had meetings with several English sides.

These include Manchester United, who have long been linked with Milinkovic-Savic, Chelsea and Newcastle United.

However, there are problems, because new United manager Erik ten Haag prefers Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona, while Newcastle are not in Europe at all.

Milinkovic-Savic has never said he wants to leave Lazio and is just getting to grips with coach Maurizio Sarri after their first season together.

Juventus have long targeted the Serbia international, but the Aquile would much prefer to sell him abroad.
