Inter have been linked with a summer bid for Switzerland goalkeeper Yann Sommer, who will be a free agent, but face competition from Manchester United.

Sommer has impressed in the 2022 World Cup playing for Switzerland and is the reason they are there in the first place, staring down two Jorginho penalties for Italy in qualifying.

His contract with Borussia Monchengladbach is due to expire in June 2023 and he turns 34 later this month.

There had been multiple reports in Italy from Sky Sport Italia, La Gazzetta dello Sport and more than Inter were looking at Sommer to be the understudy for Andre Onana.

However, Bild and Voetbalzone warn they face strong competition from Manchester United, who see Sommer not as a second choice, but as the replacement for David de Gea, who will be out of contract at the end of the season.

Given the option between playing regularly and battling for the gloves with Cameroon international Onana, Sommer is more likely to head towards Old Trafford.
