According to Il Messaggero, Manchester United are interested in Lazio goalkeeper Ivan Provedel, but the Biancocelesti won’t sell the 29-year-old for less than €35m in the summer.

Provedel was named Serie A’s best goalkeeper for 2022-23 and has become recently popular worldwide after scoring a late equaliser in a Champions League game against Atletico Madrid this past September.

According to Tuesday’s printed edition of Il Messaggero newspaper, Manchester United are interested in the Italy international as the Red Devils are unhappy with former Inter keeper André Onana.

Provedel is supposed to meet Celtic in a Champions League game on Tuesday, but he has had a high fever for the last two days, so second-choice keeper Luigi Sepe could eventually replace him between the sticks.

Provedel’s contract expires in June 2027 and Il Messaggero claims Lazio have set his price tag at €35m.

According to the report, Claudio Lotito had promised a contract extension to the Italian keeper at the end of last season, but a recent string of poor results has convinced the club owner to block negotiations with Provedel and other players such as Felipe Anderson, Mattia Zaccagni, Alessio Romagnoli, Nicolò Casale and Ciro Immobile.
