Manchester United have intensified their talks with Kia Joorabchian, the agent of Joshua Zirkzee, as they look to beat Milan to the Bologna ace.

The 23-year-old striker is currently away at the European Championship with the Netherlands, where things haven’t really gone to plan after his surprise call-up during his post-season holiday. He hasn’t played a single minute yet at the tournament, having to watch the Oranje finish third in their group.

Zirkzee is widely expected to leave Bologna this summer and Milan have already clarified their intentions to activate his €40m release clause, but things have stalled due to the €15m in agent fees requested by Joorabchian, prompting them to start exploring other possible targets.

Man Utd interest in Zirkzee grows

Calciomercato.com highlights how Joorabchian has been in close contact with Manchester United over the last few days, where the Premier League club continued their work trying to agree personal terms for Zirkzee. They still haven’t been in contact with Bologna yet.

Milan still remain ahead in the race for the 23-year-old, who has already given his green light to the move as he believes Serie A is the right place to continue his development, but that could change in the coming weeks, especially if the Rossoneri fail to resolve the agent commissions issue.
