Nicolò Barella is ‘not for sale’ this summer, so Manchester United and Liverpool must look elsewhere with regards to midfield reinforcements.

Both Premier League giants had been linked with making an offer for the Italy EURO 2020 winner, but according to Sky Sport Italia correspondent Fabrizio Romano, Barella is not for sale.

Inter need to balance the books but have already sold Achraf Hakimi to PSG for €71m, therefore they are not planning to part ways with another one of their top players.

The Nerazzurri may sell the likes of Ivan Perisic or Stefano Sensi, but Nicolò Barella or Romelu Lukaku are considered ‘untouchable’ by the Serie A champions who don’t want to sell their stars at any price.

According to Fabrizio Romano, there is ‘nothing ongoing’ between Inter, Liverpool and Manchester United regarding a possible deal for Barella.

The Italy international joined Inter from Cagliari for €44m in 2019 and the 24-year-old could become the team’s captain once Samir Handanovic retires.

He had an impressive season, winning the Serie A title with the Nerazzurri and the European Championships with the Azzurri.
