Simone Inzaghi and Thiago Motta, two of Serie A’s most exciting coaches this season, will meet in BolognaInter on Saturday amid interest from Premier League clubs, including Liverpool and Manchester United.

Thursday’s printed edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport on page 16 previews Saturday’s meeting between Inter and Bologna at the Stadio Dall’Ara. It will be a game between two of the most exciting coaches in Serie A this term: Inzaghi and Motta.

The Nerazzurri boss is said to be among the possible successors of Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool, even if Gazzetta insists the Piacenza-born tactician will remain at San Siro, especially if the Nerazzurri will offer him a new two-year contract.

Motta’s Bologna deal, on the other hand, runs out in June, and several clubs, especially Juventus, Milan, and Manchester United, are reportedly interested in the ex-Italy international.

La Gazzetta dello Sport journalist Luca Taidelli predicts an ‘exciting meeting’ between Motta and Inzaghi at the Stadio Dall’Ara as the Italian tacticians are the ‘best’ coaches Serie A has showcased this season.

Inter are the runaway leaders in Serie A, enjoying a 15-point lead over second-placed Juventus. The Nerazzurri have won 23 games from 27, scoring 69 goals and conceding just 13.

Bologna are surprisingly involved in the race for the Champions League and currently rank 4th in the table. They are unbeaten in the last seven matches (six wins and a draw) and beat Atalanta away in a kegamech for the top four last weekend.

Even ex-Italy coach Arrigo Sacchi can’t wait to see the meeting between Motta and Inzaghi on Saturday.

“I want to see if Inter will continue showing this season’s developments. In particular, I expect an attacking playing style. However, I don’t know if Inzaghi will opt for counter-attacks, so I am particularly interested in this match,” he told Gazzetta.

“Bologna play modern football, and Motta can rely on some exciting young players. I like how they move without the ball, but also the pressing and the ball possession. You can see the coach’s hand. It’s great to see that Bologna players are enjoying this style.

“I think it will be an exciting game between two coaches with a different playing style, where anything can happen.”
