Manchester United are demanding €18m from Roma to make defender Chris Smalling's loan permanent, according to Tuttosport.
Smalling made the switch to the Eternal City in the summer, and has been one of the best defenders in Serie A this season.
The Turin daily reports that United are requesting €18m to sign the centre back outright at the end of the campaign.
However, Roma DS Gianluca Petrachi is working to bring the price tag down.
Smalling is said to be more than open to the idea of remaining at Roma on a permanent basis.
