After his anti-war message, this time Atalanta forward Ruslan Malinovskyi showed he is mourning for the people of Ukraine after scoring in the Europa League.

The Ukraine international scored a brace against Olympiacos on February 24, just hours after Russia had begun the invasion of his country.

In that instance, he lifted his jersey to show a T-Shirt that read: ‘No War in Ukraine.’

Now that two weeks have passed and the casualties continue to pile up, Malinovskyi has a different message for his homeland.

The 28-year-old equalised for Atalanta against Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League this evening and marked the occasion with a special gesture.

He was wearing a black armband, a sign of mourning for all those who have died in the war.

Malinovskyi took the armband off, kissed it and pointed to the sky.

Atalanta are fairly unusual in that they have both a Ukrainian and Russian player in the squad.

Malinovskyi is good friends with Aleksei Miranchuk and the pair embraced in the locker room after news of the war broke out.
