Paolo Maldini sent a thoughtful gift to Theo Hernandez after his personal Milan record was broken, calling the left-back ‘my rightful heir.’

When Theo Hernandez found the net in a in the 2-1 victory over Como on Tuesday evening, that was his 30th goal in the Rossoneri jersey.

It allowed him to surpass the previous record of 29 for the most prolific defender in the club’s history, which had belonged for many years to Maldini.

After the France international declared it was emotional to beat his ‘idol’ in the record books, the legend sent a Number 3 jersey with a special signed dedication.

“To Theo, my rightful heir!! I love you.”

Theo Hernandez proudly showed off the image on his Instagram Stories.

It was one of the jerseys marking the 125th anniversary of AC Milan’s foundation.

  1. A true Milan legend would momentarily set aside differences with current owners, and attend the 125 anniversary festivities. Unlike Baresi, Maldini showed that his own ego is far more valuable than honour, integrity and gratitude.
