The imminent sacking of Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara also risks abandoning planned transfers Milan already had lined up, including Daichi Kamada and Marko Arnautovic, but they could now fight Inter for Marcus Thuram.

The Rossoneri fans and squad are in shock after a meeting between owner Gerry Cardinale and the directors went so badly that the RedBird chief decided to fire them.

This transforms all their plans, including transfers that had been lined up by Maldini and Massara.

An agreement had been struck with Kamada to sign on as a free agent, but that too now seems to be in doubt.

As for the Arnautovic idea, Cardinale, Geoffrey Moncada and Giorgio Furlani baulked at the thought of spending €8m to sign a 34-year-old centre-forward, even if he is replacing 41-year-old Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Instead, Calciomercato.com suggests that Milan will turn to Thuram, who is leaving Borussia Monchengladbach as a free agent.

The son of former Juventus and Parma defender Lilian had already been linked with a San Siro transfer to Inter, but has been struggling with muscular problems.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek from Chelsea is another transfer that had been in progress and could now be scrapped completely.

  1. Lets be honest, Kamada is the only loss there. RLC and Micro-Zlatan would be of no use. However, Thuram would be a fool to choose Milan now.
