The Rossoneri icon has been offered the role vacated by Leonardo but wants some reassurances over his powers before agreeing to take the job.

“I’m feeling positive that we can find an agreement,” he told reporters outside Milan’s offices.

“For my part, I’m willing and available. I’m optimistic, but it’s not the right time to reveal anything as I’m still talking to the club.”

Calciomercato.com writes the meeting was used to discuss Maldini’s choices of former teammates Alessandro Costacurta and Angelo Carbone as his right-hand men.

Also coming up for discussion would have been Geoffrey Moncada, who is primed to become chief scout, a new sporting director and Sampdoria boss Marco Giampaolo.
