“Sheva and Tassotti are an important part of Milan’s history. I am sure it will be a special game for them,” Maldini told Sky Sport Italia before the kick-off.

The former striker was appointed Genoa coach during the break and Mauro Tassotti is his assistant coach.

The Rossoneri lost the last two matches against Fiorentina and Sassuolo.

“It won’t be an easy game for us, we need to remain focused as we’ve been for a year and a half,” said Maldini.

“We need a fresh start, we are strong but with many injuries, like many other clubs. We have room for improvement, especiallyin managinge mental energies in important games, but it takes time.

“We know we have done important things, but we can’t be satisfied.”
