His late father, Cesare, also represented the Diavolo, and today a plaque was unveiled in a park near San Siro which pays tribute to Maldini sr and Inter hero Giacinto Facchetti.

“From my point of view, you have to give importance to tradition in football, because it counts,” Maldini told Milan Channel after the unveiling.
“Both Milan and Inter have, in the course of their history, had many great players, but above all great men.
“My love for Milan, and my family’s love for the Rossoneri colours, is not in question. For years now, there’s always been a Maldini signed with the Rossoneri [Paolo’s sons, Christian and Daniel are in the youth set-up].”
President Silvio Berlusconi admitted today that it may be time to sell the club, with Chinese investors ready to step-in.
“It’s strange and difficult to think of Milan without Berlusconi after 30 years rich with success. If in the end he gives up the club, I think it would be an act of love for a team he loves deeply.”
