Serie A Commissioner Giovanni Malagò met with 20 clubs today and confirmed Gaetano Miccichè is likely to take over. “Nobody said no.”
The FIGC was put under a Commissioner when the various elements of Italian football failed to elect a new President and the Lega Serie A is in a similar position.
CONI (Italian Olympic Committee) chief Malagò had an informal meeting with the 20 top flight clubs in Milan this evening.
“It was a constructive and positive meeting with a cordial tone,” said Malagò.

“It was a constructive and positive meeting with a cordial tone,” said Malagò.
“I explained the genesis of this decision to put the Lega Serie A under commission and the choice of Bernardo Corradi.
“I do not intend to call a formal assembly until we have found some certainty of resolving the main issues: statute and governance with relative names. There will be another informal meeting on March 5, with the objective of then calling a real assembly on Monday March 19.
“I have my own ideas on a new President and proposed Gaetano Miccichè, a man of sport who is also reliable, but I don’t know if he is ready to accept. Nobody said no to this idea.”
Miccichè has a history of restructuring businesses and is the current President of the Banca IMI financial institution.
He comes from a famous family, as his brother Gianfranco is a politician and their sibling Guglielmo is Vice-President of Serie B club Palermo.
