CONI President Giovanni Malagò hopes Inter reaching the Champions League Final against Manchester City will act as ‘a good advertisement’ for selling Serie A television rights.

The Nerazzurri beat local rivals Milan 3-0 on aggregate in the semi-final and booked their place in the showdown in Istanbul on June 10.

“It is a big deal for a thousand reasons,” Malagò told Sky Sport Italia.

“There were 130 countries tuning in to watch, because the Champions League involves not just Europe, but people all over the globe.

“It means being there will reflect positively on our football and act as a good advertisement for selling the Serie A rights.”

The Premier League is an unstoppable juggernaut when it comes to revenue and a lot of that is down to the collectively sold television rights deals.

Serie A are trying to catch up at least a little bit on that front, but the difference shows in the investment even small Premier League sides are able to make compared to Italian giants like Inter, Juventus and Milan.

Inter are hoping to become the first Italian side to win the Champions League since 2010, when Jose Mourinho secured an historic Treble at this very club.

Juventus and Roma are also vying for a place in the Europa League Final, while Fiorentina want to reach the Conference League Final.
