La Repubblica newspaper publishes the documents concerning an investigation on Serie A TV rights claiming that CONI President Giovanni Malagò called club Presidents real criminals: ‘Claudio Lotito is the chief, Juventus and Roma are as guilty as he is.’

La Repubblica has made public a phone tapping of Malagò and Sky Italia’s CEO Andrea Zappia from June 2020.

Their conversation is among the documents regarding an investigation on Serie A TV rights by the Milan Public Prosecutor which ended with a motion to dismiss.

According to the report, Malagò referred to Serie A presidents as “real criminals,” while Lega Calcio was described as “a private law organization because otherwise they’d all been arrested six years ago because guilty of corruption.”

The CONI President referred to a previous auction for Serie A TV rights in 2014, which led to a fine from the Antitrust for Mediaset, Infront, Sky and Lega for an ‘agreement adversely affecting competition.’

Malagò allegedly said that Genoa President Enrico Preziosi was a “real convicted felon” while Lazio President Lotito was the “organization’s chief.”

“Our friends, Juventus and Roma, are as guilty as he is,” continued Malagò, according to the report.

“Because in the end or for one reason or another, they gave up fighting or indulged him [Lotito] becoming accomplices of his adventures.”

Malagò was under investigation at that time following the election of Gaetano Micciché as the Lega Calcio President in 2018. Malagò was Serie A’s commissary when Micciché was elected at the helm of Lega Serie A.
