Former Napoli defender Nikola Maksimovic has agreed terms for a four-year contract with Genoa and could soon be joined by Mohamed Fares from Lazio.
According to Sky Sport Italia and Sportitalia, 29-year-old free agent Maksimovic has accepted the deal and will put pen to paper over the next 24 hours.
The centre-back is out of contract and had been holding on in case he was offered a new agreement at Napoli, but has seemingly now committed himself to Genoa.
Meanwhile, the same two sources also note Genoa are in advanced negotiations with Lazio for wing-back Fares, who does not fit into new coach Maurizio Sarri’s tactical system.
This would be a loan with option to buy for the ex-SPAL and Hellas Verona man.
The 25-year-old Algeria international saw his his career stall after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament in August 2019.
Nonetheless, he completed the transfer from SPAL to Lazio in October 2020 for €8m.
#Maksimovic–#Genoa: confermato. #Fares vicino. Fiducia per #Lammers malgrado il #Verona alle costole
