Ainsley Maitland-Niles is expected in Rome today and according to Sky Sport Italia, he will make his Serie A debut on Sunday against Juventus.

The Giallorossi have registered the player’s contract on the Lega Serie A system, so the 24-year-old has formally joined the club on a ‘dry’ six-month loan.

This means Roma do not have an option or an obligation to sign the player on a permanent deal from Arsenal in June.

The versatile English defender underwent his medicals in Rome on Wednesday and will land in Italy today.

According to Sky Sport Italia, he is ready to play and is likely to start Roma’s next Serie A game against Juventus.

Rick Karsdorp saw red against Milan yesterday, so Maitland-Niles will immediately step up to replace the Dutchman, according to the report.

The 24-year-old played his last competitive game on November 20 in Arsenal’s 4-0 defeat against Liverpool.
