Milan keeper Mike Maignan admits he was not patient enough and forced his return to action from a calf injury in September.

The France international has recently made his return between the sticks for the Serie A giants. He had missed 18 matches due to a calf injury suffered while on international duty with France in September.

“I had a few relapses, I wanted to return very early,” Maignan told Amazon Prime Video.

“In the beginning, I did not have enough patience to wait for the calf to heal. I pushed and pushed, but I learned to wait in the end.

“Everyone has been helping me and we’ve been waiting for this moment for so long. It was tough. For a footballer, it’s always difficult to remain out.”

Maignan was decisive against Tottenham on Wednesday with a key save on Harry Kane.

The France international joined Milan for €15m from Lille in 2021 and his contract at San Sir expires in June 2026.
