Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan reportedly raged at his France teammates after a 3-1 defeat to Italy, whereas captain Kylian Mbappé was called ‘silent’ on and off the pitch.

Les Bleus had taken the lead within 14 seconds at Parc des Princes last night in the Nations League match, only to capitulate 3-1 to goals from Federico Dimarco, Davide Frattesi and Giacomo Raspadori.

While the Italian press has praised the Nazionale for their comeback win, the first on Parisian soil for 70 years, the French media is in uproar.

Maignan acted as France captain

L’Equipe report that Maignan – one of three Milan players in the starting XI – angrily screamed at teammates in the locker room after the match.

He berated them for a terrible attitude, warning that while only two Italy players would get into the current France XI, they won thanks to their desire and aggression.

It was noted that “nobody dared speak” after that, including absolute silence from both captain Mbappé and vice-captain Antoine Griezmann.

The two now veteran star players were criticised for being ‘silent on the pitch and off it’ by the French paper.

Italy will face Israel in Budapest on Monday night, while France risk having their Nations League campaign be a write-off already when going head-to-head with Belgium.

The Belgians and Italy are joint leaders, both with 3-1 victories in Matchday 1.
