Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan was racially abused by Juventus fans during the warm-up ahead of the 1-1 draw on Sunday.

The Rossoneri goalkeeper was preparing for the big game at the Allianz Stadium when fans were caught on film racially abusing the former LOSC Lille player.

The 26-year-old arrived to replace Gianluigi Donnarumma ahead of the new season and has only conceded two goals in four Serie A games so far.

Milan recently sent a complaint to the federal prosecutor after Tiemoue Bakayoko was allegedly racially abused by Lazio fans earlier this month.

La Gazzetta dello Sport reports the Bianconeri are working to identify the people racially abusing the goalkeeper, using the material recorded by the cameras.

  1. Hi name is Davide Gabrielli and goes by instagram name of cicciodio. His account is still live. Disgraceful lowlife.

  2. Give him hell. There are two videos and it just makes me sick to the stomach. I just don’t understand!!! I’m sure because of the noise, Maignan didn’t hear him.

These cretins need to be given lifetime bans! He even has a son for goodness sake! what a ‘role model’.

  3. Totally agree. Yes, saw that…his son. He doesn’t belong in a stadium. Serie A black players don’t need this merda. Unacceptable.

Feel so sorry for MM too…like him a lot, doesn’t deserve that. No on does.

  4. @ Rosario. Yep correct again. I think people like us just do not understand why some people take pleasure in racially vilifying black players (or any non white players for that matter). Its a systemic problem that starts at the top. As the saying goes, “the fish rots from the head”. Remember when Carlo Tavecchio was around running for FIGC presidency and that “Opti Poba” incident? And then the Italian FA cleared him of wrong doing i believe? We have no chance of any meaningful change when sh*t like that happens i feel.

  5. No one this sort of discriminatory abuse no matter who they are.

I would like to point out two things:

    1. I don’t like the title stating ‘fans’. We are clearly looking at a lowlife and misguided individual. There’s no proof that a group or multiple of juventus fans partook in this vile act. It’s important we don’t demonize a whole club because of the actions of one lowlife.

    2. Sometimes, those in positions of responsibility and power are complicit in abuse going too far. Nedved pretty much spends the entire game hurling abuse at the referee when things aren’t going juventus’ way.

  6. @Dan.

Completely agree. Anything less than a lifetime ban from all sporting stadia’s is a kick in the teeth for any movement vs all forms of discrimination.

Poignant for this to come to light today with yet another misinformed footballer coming out to undermine the taking of the knee. Marcos Alonso of chelsea somehow seems to find it too difficult to do a selfless act to keep the issue relevant. But instead of just saying he will now just point at the respect badge, he has to go on and say that the taking of the knee has lost ‘its strength’. I wish such a movement existed during my 2 years in an English school. Just purely for being Italian and darker than the other kids, I suffered horrific abuse daily and yet the teachers never did a thing about it. How I’d have loved for such a movement to have existed in those days – at least to know I wasn’t alone. Alonso’s words and actions ring even more of a louder alarm as just last week a fan of his own team filmed themselves hurling sectarian abuse at a Scottish player.

  7. @Francis.

You’re expecting a person who abuses others because of the colour of their skin to be blessed with logic?

  8. Not so shocking really . But so sad .

The only way to fix this is to make the team fully responsible for the fans . This is a small group of people but they have loud voices . Many of these losers sit at home and blame everyone else for there short comings . Acting out in a football arena is a great venue for them as they have no accountability. Juve would fix it if they were docked points , as would any other team .
I have seasons tickets to a local club , in the supporters section as I though it would be fun . After a while the swearing and hurling ridiculous insults just gets old. These are not normal people , they have issues and are for the most part allowed to vent in the stands.
I am sick of it , the teams need to be responsible and weed these people out . I am all for having a good time yelling , screaming but the constant hurling of every imaginable insult has to end .
In Italy , has it dawned on any of these idiots that many of the best players in the world are ” non white ” , do you think when these guys are choosing where they want to play the acceptance of their race and color play a major part . Good luck attracting players of color.
    Disgraceful !

  9. So nice to have the fans back, seem they think its a badge of honor to display their ignorance. @Dan head down rotting really applies to Lazio.

  10. SHAMEFUL!! Unbelievable authorities are still sleeping. Italian football to revive itself as a global in demand product has to start here .. take action against these lowlifes .. who are not fans!! Good that the scoundrel has been named and shamed …

  11. @ Roy
Yep agree. Has to be eradicated for Italian football to progress in a number of areas and the Italian FA MUST take serious action.

    @ SL
And agree also. Lotito’s Lazio (in particular their hardcore Ultras) are widely known fascists. And wouldn’t surprise me to know (which i don’t) if some have links or are White supremacists/Neo Nazi’s themselves. The select few (although not really few) band of Lazio hardcore ultras do not seem to care if they attack their own non-white players, let alone from opposition.

My suggestion in general to all teams of fans (although dramatic but in my view necessary) would be a 3 strike system that would involve barring of fans, fines/docking of points to the club and also barring of clubs to participate in Europe too.

Finally if all else fails, demotion from the respective league in Italy.

And for this I would enforce the demotion rule across all leagues in Italy (from Serie A through to Terza Categoria). No league in Italy nor ANY club for that matter should be off limits from this.

Something HAS to be done. The FA and the FIGC are simply going around in circles each year and its a never ending cycle of systemic racism that is a major problem in our game in Italy.

    Again, my opinion only.

  12. Not familiar with these types of “supporters” here in the USA so was quite surprised at the type of shameful behavior from them. Seems clubs have ceded so much power to them that they can no longer control them. Didn’t I hear one group in Napoli is boycotting because they installed cameras in the stadium, really? You choose to stay away as opposed to acting like human being!

  13. @ SL

Haven’t heard that myself actually but certainly not surprising if that were the case. Certainly wouldn’t call these types supporters of Napoli then thats for sure.

  14. @SL.

Really? The USA? You’re going to talk about racism related issues whilst being from the USA? What next? The right win preaching racial equality and harmony? Some high horse…!

Clearly, society, clubs, and football in general has a lot of issues that it needs to deal with. But at no stage in the history of the human race will the USA point us in the right way.

  15. @rosario I think there’s a misinterpretation of SL’s comments. In no fashion do I regard his statement as saying there is no racism in the U.S.A., only that the fanaticism seen with ultras groups isn’t as readily apparent to him in the U.S.A. To be sure, the stadiums still get a fair share of dumb***es in the seats. When they’re caught, they’re banned, but these scumbags still find a way in as facial recognition software isn’t where it needs to be to keep these people out.
