Milan are in the process of negotiating a new contract with goalkeeper Mike Maignan, who wants the same wages as star winger Rafael Leao.

The 28-year-old French shot stopper has been a core part of the Rossoneri squad since his arrival from Lille back in July 2021, playing a key role in their Scudetto success and regularly producing impressive saves despite the wider performances of his teammates.

Maignan’s current contract with Milan is the same one he signed upon his arrival three years ago, with a salary of €2.8m net per season plus around €400,000 in add-ons, expiring in June 2026. As such, the club are keen to set him up with a new deal.

Page 18 of today’s Gazzetta dello Sport details how Maignan was double his current salary in his new deal, reflective of his importance to Milan, putting him on similar wages to star forward Leao, who can earn over €7m net per season between the fixed salary and complicated add-ons.

Talks will continue over the next few weeks and both parties are keen to reach an agreement before the summer transfer window, when clubs like Bayern Munich or Paris Saint-Germain could come calling.
