“I had to explain to my managers what the reasons were, and I also told the players,” Dunga has told Fox Sports Brazil.
“Others have speculated on the subject, but this is not my problem.
“You've got to show respect for him as a professional.
“If I were to say what the problem was and Maicon were to lose his contract with Roma and with his sponsors, it would be my fault.”
On the subject of the player's future with the Selecao, Dunga sounded more positive: “The national team isn't closed off to anyone.”
