Roma look ready to release Ashley Cole for a return to England with Newcastle United.
According to the Daily Star newspaper, the 34-year-old is a transfer target for Steve McClaren.
His contract with Roma runs to June 2016, but Cole has struggled to make any impact at the Stadio Olimpico.
