Christian Maggio still regrets failing to score against Chelsea and reveals Napoli “face every Champions League game with the right spirit.”

The winger had a great chance to make it 4-1 in the first leg, but was denied by an Ashley Cole goalline clearance.

“When there is an opportunity to score, you have to take it. It’s a shame that ball didn’t go in, as we could’ve increased our advantage,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

“If we play the same way we did at the San Paolo, then we can have a great game in London too. They’ll try to make it difficult for us, as they remain a great side.

“We are highly motivated in the Champions League, partly because at the start of the group phase everyone assumed we were done for.

“Instead, we reached the last 16 and can go into the quarter-finals. We try to face every Champions League game with the right spirit, then we’ll see where we end up.”

Napoli caused shockwaves by knocking Manchester City and Villarreal out of the first round, while Chelsea could be their next victims.

Meanwhile, Maggio turns his attention back to Serie A, as Sunday’s match with Inter is a head-to-head for sixth place.

“We are five points behind third place and it can still be done. Beating Inter would be very important to help us climb further. They’re not going through a great period, but we must still be careful and have the same concentration shown against Chelsea.

“As for MilanJuventus and the Scudetto race, I think the Rossoneri have a little bit more. It’ll be a great game and I couldn’t predict a result.”
