Empoli's Massimo Maccarone, Milan's Gabriel Paletta and Palermo's Slobodan Rajkovic are this season's first players to be suspended.

The Lega officially released the sentence of the sporting judge, following an assessment of the behaviour of booked players in Serie A's Week 1.

Paletta and Rajkovic were both suspended for 'improper behaviour', whilst Maccarone was punished for a 'serious foul'.

Furthermore Pescara and Palermo have been fined €5000 and €2000 respectively. Fans of the newly promoted teams threw several fireworks onto the pitch, whilst the Sicilians threw a bottle of water.
