Massimo Maccarone said Empoli “proved” their style of football works in Serie A after beating Napoli 4-2.
“I had faith in this group and what we did last season. I didn’t know if we could express the same football in Serie A and at times we struggled to score, but we proved that it can be done,” the striker told Sky Sport Italia.

“I am happy to have reached double figures. There are many young players in the side and I have to keep up with them, both physically and in terms of enthusiasm.
“I dedicate the goal to my wife, as today is her birthday.”
