The former Middlesbrough player is looking to leave Marassi this month and he’s made it clear that he’d like a return to Tuscany.

“Everyone knows that Massimo wants to go back to Siena,” agent Paolo Fabbri told Fedelissimo Online.

“However, up until now I’m not aware that any talks between the two clubs have begun regarding my client.

“Massimo will leave Sampdoria, but his future hasn’t been written yet.

“He has a few offers on the table, so we’ll see what happens in the next few days and then we’ll evaluate what is the best solution.”

Maccarone moved to Siena in January 2005, initially on loan, and remained with the outfit until his 2010 switch to Palermo.

The striker joined Doria a year ago, but he wasn’t able to save them from relegation to Serie B.

Siena are currently 16th in Serie A, three points ahead of the drop zone. They have only scored 14 goals in the League so far this term – just three teams have done worse.
