But the captain insisted it was never the main objective and claimed Inzaghi has done well to bring them to the Champions League.

But the captain insisted it was never the main objective and claimed Inzaghi has done well to bring them to the Champions League.
“We are sad because of the defeat against Milan,” he told Swiss outlet Watson. “We missed [Ciro] Immobile and his goals so much.
“Our target has never been to win the Scudetto, but to qualify for the Champions League. It has been missing for some time and we managed to conquer it.
“Our long-term plan is paying off. For four years we have worked hard and well under the guidance of Inzaghi. He has created an excellent team spirit.”
