Lazio’s Senad Lulic has apologised to Roma winger Mohammed Salah for injuring him during the Rome Derby.

The Biancocelesti were beaten 2-0 by their rivals at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday, during which the Egypt international was stretchered off after a clash with Lulic.

It was reported today that he sustained ligament damage and will be out for four to six weeks.

Bosnia international Lulic took to social media this evening to apologise for the challenge and make the point that it was unintentional.

“Football is a game where you win and sometimes you lose,” he wrote on his Facebook page.

“Because football is impatient and we do everything to win.

“True athletes never take aim at someone to harm them and I didn’t want to hurt Salah.

“I’m very sorry for what happened, because I had no intention of harming a colleague.

“I wish Salah a speedy recovery from injury.”
