Sasa Lukic has seemingly apologised to Torino and is ready to discuss a new contract after he asked to be left out of the season opener in order to push for a transfer, another chapter in the chaotic summer of this club.

The Granata have been a side on the verge of a nervous breakdown over the last few weeks, including a raging row between coach Ivan Juric and director of sport Davide Vagnati that was caught on camera and leaked on social media.

Things took another strange turn when Lukic was not in the squad for Torino’s 2-1 win away to Monza on Saturday.

Coach Juric later confirmed in a press conference it was Lukic himself who had asked to be left out so he could demand a transfer, which surprised the tactician.

“I can’t think what caused this, he’s such a sweet boy and never complained before this.”

Now Sky Sport Italia report that Lukic has apologised to the club and turned up for training at the Filadelfia ground this afternoon.

The plan now is to negotiate a new contract, as the 26-year-old’s current deal runs to June 2024.
