Romelu Lukaku sent a message to thank the Inter fans after moving back to Chelsea in the English Premier League. ‘When I arrived at Inter, I immediately felt I would do well’.

The Belgium international has re-joined Chelsea after seven years and only two seasons in Serie A with Inter.

Lukaku helped the Nerazzurri pick up their first Scudetto in 11 years and the fans were not happy to see their target man leave the club.

The former Manchester United and Everton striker has sent a letter to the fans, thanking them for the support during his time in Milan.

“Dear Inter fans,” he wrote on Instagram. “Thank you…

“Thank you for loving me as one of you. Thank you for making me and my family feel at home.

“Thanks for the unconditional support and daily love. Thanks for motivating me even more after the first season.

“When I arrived at Inter, I immediately felt that I would do well for this club. The love and the welcome I received at Malpensa airport was the beginning of a beautiful story.

“I decided to never disappoint you every time I wore the Inter shirt. I gave 100 per cent of myself every day, in every training, but especially in the games, to make you happy.

“The first season ended as hard as possible, but you guys gave me the strength to keep pushing and we did it as a team, that’s why we became champions.

“I hope you understand my decision to move to Chelsea. It’s a chance of a lifetime for me and I think at this moment in my career, it’s the chance I have always dreamed of.

“One thing is certain, that I will remain an Interista forever, because without you I wouldn’t be the man and the player I am today.

“So, thank you from the bottom of my heart. I love you. Thank you so much. Always, Forza Inter!”

  1. Not an Interista here, but I would’ve accepted more if he said the desmantling of the Team and Conte leaving was mostly his motivation…

  2. Also not an Inter fan, but Lukaku was my favorite player in Serie A. His words aren’t empty, given what I know of his character, but they do little to assuage his abrupt departure. Think of the admiration and adulation he would’ve received had he won Inter not only another scudetto (and 2nd star) but a Champions League as well… far fetched but a challenge worthy of him. Instead, money talks, and BS walks.

  3. @Burky…. when Conte left Inter, he firmly said he will stay. Also, one player departure (Hakimi) doesn’t mean a team is being dismantled. However, by his departure he contributed to dismantling a winning team, He just followed money, otherwise Marotta, Ausillio and etc would resign since they were against Zhang decision but then Lukaku himself requested to leave and well you know the story. Money talks like @Basta poco said the rest is BS. Nowadays football stars can’t afford their expenses anymore so they need more money to bring food to their family table!
