La Gazzetta dello Sport claim that Romelu Lukaku recently contacted Inter to try and reopen talks as Juventus aren’t in a position to sign him.

The 30-year-old Belgian striker has dominated the headlines in recent weeks. The Nerazzurri spent weeks trying to set up the right deal with Chelsea but then decided to give up on him after discovering his conversations with Juventus.

Lukaku is not part of the project at Chelsea but cannot make a move to Turin until Dusan Vlahovic is sold, leaving Saudi Arabia as the only other possible destination.

Pages two and three of today’s Gazzetta detail how the situation convinced Lukaku to take a small step back towards Inter, so in recent days he reopened talks with the club.

The Nerazzurri instantly shut down the talks, not interested in picking up the 30-year-old anymore. They are now focusing on other targets, like Arsenal’s Folarin Balogun and Atletico’s Alvaro Morata.

Lukaku has now been left in a difficult position. Chelsea and Inter don’t want him, Juventus can’t sign him and he’s not keen on the idea of heading to Saudi Arabia, leaving his future shrouded in doubt.
