Romelu Lukaku credits his ‘strong rapport’ with both Jose Mourinho and Paulo Dybala with the strong start to his Roma career after sealing the 2-0 win over Frosinone.

The Giallorossi were in dire need of a boost with just one Serie A win all season, sitting close to the relegation zone on five points from six games.

It was far from simple, but they got the result they needed by beating Frosinone 2-0 at the Stadio Olimpico with Dybala providing the assists for both Lukaku and Lorenzo Pellegrini.

“We talked over the last few days and said this was truly important for us. It was a good performance, we gave everything, we scored twice, did not concede, so must continue like this,” Lukaku told DAZN.

This was his fourth goal in just five starts for the Giallorossi. Jose Mourinho said that Romelu needs to feel loved in order to give his best, so is that true?

“Yes, we have a strong rapport, the coach knows me very well. I must put myself at the disposal of Roma and I also want to thank my teammates for helping me from the first day.

“The team is the most important thing. We are in a difficult position, we all know that, and we must improve both in training and during match situations.”

Every time Lukaku gets the ball at the Stadio Olimpico, the crowd is on the edge of their seats. Can he sense that?

“I am completely focused on whether to shoot or knock it down for my teammates. Now the connection with my teammates is getting stronger day by day.”

Considering his partnership with Lautaro Martinez at Inter, Lukaku was asked if the one with Dybala is just as strong.

“It’s different, but every teammate I worked with we always had a good rapport. It is important to know each other, how your teammate wants the ball. Paulo is a player with a lot of quality and we want to do our best for Roma.”
