Lukaku ‘sorry for Inter comments’

Inter have reportedly accepted an apology from Romelu Lukaku after he suggested the club did not do enough to protect its players from COVID-19.

Lukaku revealed on social media yesterday that ‘23 out of 25 Inter players were ill with a cough and fever’ in January but were not tested for coronavirus.

That was despite Milan being one of the Italian cities worst hit by the illness.

Now, La Repubblica claims the striker apologised to the Nerazzurri immediately after his interview with Dries Mertens’ wife Kat Kerkhofs.

Despite appearing to break the Beneamata’s code of ethics, it is understood he will not be fined.

Lukaku has scored 23 goals in 35 appearances for Inter this season, providing five assists.
