Romelu Lukaku is reportedly desperate to return to Inter amidst the chaos at Chelsea, realising that he made a mistake last summer.

The British government’s decision to impose sanctions on Blues owner Roman Abramovich recently has thrown the West London club into turmoil, with many players now reportedly contacting lawyers in order to explore their futures. A buyer will soon be found for Chelsea, but in the meantime no transfer market activity can take place.

As reported by Calciomercato.com, Lukaku is incredibly keen to return to Inter, feeling as if the Chelsea move was a big mistake. His experience in West London has been disastrous from all points of view, from performances to the relationship with the fans and the understanding with his teammates.

The Belgian striker is ready to lower his salary in order to facilitate a return to the Nerazzurri and he’s already started to joke about his return with some of his former teammates. Many players have received a message from Lukaku in recent days hinting at a possible return.

It would be a complex deal but Lukaku is ready to do whatever it takes to get things across the line. Chelsea paid €115m for Lukaku last summer and so the only ways he could return to Lombardy are either a dry loan deal or a two-year loan with an obligation to buy clause attached.

Should the latter take shape, Inter would have to accept the idea of paying a significant sum for a then-31-year-old Lukaku in the summer of 2024.

  1. Sometimes I think this guy feels that the world is revolving around him and whatever he wishes had to be done..

  2. spoil brat!!!! grow up and just do your job!!!!! this kind of attitude is not tolerated in a normal work place…shows how far these footballers from reality.. bozo

  3. Given his age, Lukaku sale was a madness on Chelsea part. Inter may take him back now at his original Inter’s book depreciated value, maybe 40 mil. Oh, and Luke has to lower his original Inter salary too.

  4. Icardi was a spoiled brat; Lukaku simply wanted one more opportunity to prove himself in the Premier League. … In retrospect, returning Chelsea was obviously a poor for a variety of reasons, but Lukaku is anything but spoiled. I recall him giving away a penalty shot to a much younger teammate in a game. Can you imagine Icardi doing that? … The only thing Lukaku can be blamed for is admitting that he likes pineapple on his pizza.

  5. Don’t take back those who left. Never ever do such madness , inter is growing , invest that in quality players that’ll respect the badge and not create stories and turmoil within the dressing room

  6. Please Inter take Lukaku back – he goes missing in big games and only scores against the minnows so it would be delightful for opposition fans to see this overrated cry baby line up for Inter once again.

  7. We don’t want him back – he didn’t leave to have another crack at the EPL – he asked for a pay rise at inter, was denied so chased the money to Chelsea. Now he wants to come back, would he even suit Inzaghi system? Dzeko plays a deep technical game I don’t think lukaku has that link up ability, he’s the perfect conte striker playing on the counter

  8. It may not be as simple as ‘spoilt brat’. It’s very likely he was ‘encouraged’ to leave by Inter – given the amount Chelsea were prepared to pay and the financial situation Inter were in. Lukaku did a lot for Inter – he was instrumental in their first Scudetto in over a decade and his departure (whatever the ‘truth’) helped secure Inter’s immediate financial future. Finally, everyone is entitled to have regrets, even professional footballers.
