Romelu Lukaku has issued a comment on his social media platforms regarding the racist abuse he suffered during Inter’s 1-1 draw with Juventus in the Coppa Italia semi-final first leg on Tuesday evening.

On a post on instagram, Lukaku pointed out that this is not the first time he has faced discriminatory abuse while playing for Inter and stated his desire for the league to take action ‘for real’.

His post read: “History repeats itself. Been through it in 2019.. and 2023 again.. I hope the league really take actions for real this time because this beautiful game should be enjoyed by everyone.

“Thank you for the supportive messages 🤞🏿F*ck racism.”

Racist chants and monkey noises were heard from the stands of the Allianz Stadium on Tuesday night, in regards to which Inter, Juventus and Serie A have all released statements.

The 29-year-old was shown a second yellow and sent off for his celebration after converting the equalising penalty in the 95th minute of the game, which prompted further chaos between players and coaches of both sides.

Unless his second yellow is rescinded, as per the wishes of Simone Inzaghi, Lukaku will be suspended for the second leg of the semi-final at San Siro at the end of the month.
