Roma are a step away from fully agreeing a deal with Chelsea for Romelu Lukaku, who rejected a last-minute approach from Borussia Dortmund, Corriere dello Sport claims.

Giallorossi directors Ryan Friedkin and Tiago Pinto have been hard at work in London, trying to finalise the terms of a deal with the Blues for the 30-year-old Belgian striker, who is keen to be reunited with Jose Mourinho in the Italian capital.

Lukaku has agreed to drop his salary to around €7.5m in order to push through the deal, which is expected to be a €5m loan with no permanence clause.

As reported by Corriere dello Sport via TMW, Borussia Dortmund emerged in the last 24 hours to try and explore a late deal for Lukaku, but the player himself directly rejected the approach, having no interest in the destination.

Yesterday, Juventus contacted Chelsea to ask for updates regarding the negotiations with Roma, suggesting that another approach could come from Turin should the talks with Mourinho’s side hit any roadblocks.

Gianluca Di Marzio suggests that an agreement has now been reached between Roma and Chelsea and now a contract for Lukaku is starting to be drawn up.
