Inter director Beppe Marotta shrugged off a question about being “optimistic” on Manchester United’s Romelu Lukaku, as they turn to Ante Rebic.
The Belgium international was not even on the bench for Manchester United’s friendly with Perth Glory, although Ole Gunnar Solskjaer insisted it was down to an injury “niggle.”
Marotta spoke to reporters as he walked through the Inter training camp in Lugano and was asked if he was optimistic about Lukaku.

“I am always optimistic on everything,” he smiled in response.
The fact remains, though, that Inter are not going to meet the asking price of over €80m.
They are starting to look elsewhere, with Ante Rebic of Eintracht Frankfurt reportedly given a price-tag of €40m.
According to Sky Sports Germany, the offer from the Nerazzurri so far is €30m, but it’s still less than half the cost of Lukaku.
Croatia international Rebic is still only 25 and already has some Serie A experience at Verona and Fiorentina, although he didn’t make much of a mark.
Last season, he scored 10 goals with six assists in 38 competitive games for Eintracht.
