Romelu Lukaku’s return to Inter is now in the hands of Nerazzurri chairman Steven Zhang after as an agreement with Chelsea appears close, according to reports in Italy.
The Belgium international’s return to San Siro appears to be a move which favours all parties, though a deal has been tricky to make for a player who moved in the other direction in transfer worth €115 million just 12 months earlier.
Discussions over the finances and structure of the proposed move have been ongoing since the end of the previous campaign.
But Gianluca Di Marzio has reported a breakthrough has been made.
The report suggests Inter had initially offered Chelsea €5m plus bonuses tied to the Nerazzurri’s success but the west London side have come back with their terms which is for double that amount.
According to Di Marzio, Inter would be willing to do business at that fee and are just waiting on the green light being given by Zhang.
Lukaku is willing to significantly reduce his salary, the report adds.

PSG is offering Hakimi + 40 mill for Skrinjar so both 2 that Inter sold last year are about to come back just year after they left.
@Alle Sure buddy. PSG is also offering Veratti and Mbappe for Galiardini…
Alle, it was Barzaghi’s idea. 😛
@Alle – Wake up mate, that Hakomi deal isn’t happening
lol @ Alle. And lol at those who think Lukaku will be the same as Inter’s scudetto campaign. Without Pintus, he is DONE. Just watch his season with Chelsea, it was a disaster
