La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Romelu Lukaku has already told new Chelsea coach Mauricio Pochettino that he has no intention of returning in the summer, wanting to stay with Inter

The Belgian striker joined the Blues from the Nerazzurri in August 2021 in a deal worth around €113m, but struggled to find his footing in West London and returned to Lombardy after a single season in the Premier League.

Lukaku came back to Inter on a loan deal with no permanence clause attached. Things initially started slowly, with a hamstring injury frustrating his return, but in recent months he’s started to show his best again, scoring seven goals and providing four assists in his last seven Serie A games.

As detailed by La Gazzetta dello Sport via FcInterNews, Lukaku spoke to the Inter management recently and confirmed his desire to stay with the club beyond this season, not interested in returning to Chelsea.

He has reportedly expressed this sentiment to new Blues coach Pochettino. The two clubs will now sit down to discuss a new deal in the coming weeks, with the Nerazzurri hoping that his desire will make a difference in the talks.

  1. A player under contract is never going to be that stupid and burn bridges with a new coach. Fake news.
