Romelu Lukaku is expected to start on the bench against Milan in the first leg of the Champions League semi-finals, but the Belgian star could be Simone Inzaghi’s secret weapon in the second half.

Lukaku had a tough start to the season but is currently one of Italy’s most in-form strikers with three goals and as many assists in his last three Serie A appearances.

All his latest three league goals were scored in the second half and the same is true of two of his three assists, both delivered in a key victory over Lazio at San Siro at the end of April.

The Belgian forward started eight of the last nine Serie A matches, but all his five Champions League appearances this season came as a substitute. On the other hand, Edin Dzeko has started eight Champions League games from 10 this season, scoring three goals.

Lukaku will return to Chelsea at the end of his loan spell at Inter in June. He has scored 10 goals in 29 appearances: six in Serie A, three in the Champions League and one in Coppa Italia.
