Romelu Lukaku is reportedly eager for a return to Inter, but the situation is in chaos amid Chelsea’s takeover and a potentially ugly split between the Belgian and his agent.

The centre-forward forced through his exit from Inter last summer, just weeks after winning the Serie A title, securing a €115m transfer to Stamford Bridge.

That proved to be a step backwards in his career, as he only scored 15 goals in 44 competitive games, many of them off the bench as he dropped down the pecking order and struggled with Thomas Tuchel’s tactics.

Now Gazzetta dello Sport, the Corriere dello Sport and Sportitalia all claim Lukaku is pushing for a return to San Siro, something that can only realistically be achieved on loan and if he halves his salary.

There are other problems too, as all these sources report Lukaku has split with agent Federico Pastorello.

This brings another intermediary into the mix, lawyer Sebastien Ledure, who it’s suggested has been in negotiations with Inter director Beppe Marotta for Lukaku’s future.

Chelsea are in a period of uncertainty too, as the takeover by Todd Boehly buying the club from Roman Abramovich could be completed next week.

Italian papers all point to the desire from Lukaku to get this transfer done, but give it a very, very small chance of actually happening.

4 thought on “Lukaku, his agent, lawyer, Inter and Chelsea in a tangle”
  1. Leave him, his agent, and lawyers in England. Italy and Inter don’t need greedy ungrateful players like him. Stick with building Italian talent.

  2. Inter will probably end up with neither player now.

Putting dybala on hold to pursue some Lukaku fantasy is silly.

Reminds me of inter putting Vidal on hold because of some modric fantasy and then Vidal ended up going to Barca instead
