Romelu Lukaku has reassured Jose Mourinho and his Roma teammates that he’s not afraid as he prepares to face Inter at San Siro.

The 30-year-old Belgian striker was the centre of attention in the Serie A summer transfer market. Inter were initially negotiating a new deal with Chelsea before they discovered his secret talks with Juventus, prompting them to bitterly give up and switch focus.

Juventus weren’t able to reach a deal with Chelsea either and Lukaku ultimately headed to the Italian capital to join Roma on a year-long loan deal. Things have started well, with the Belgian netting eight in his first 10 games.

Page 12 of today’s Gazzetta dello Sport details how Lukaku has told Mourinho and his teammates that ‘he has no fear’ about returning to San Siro to face Inter, wanting to talk on the pitch with Roma.

The 30-year-old has already hinted at his frustration with the situation, telling the media in a recent international break: “If I told you how things really went, you’d be shocked. One day you’ll understand why I wasn’t present with my mind in the Champions League final.”
