The Coppa Italia semi-final between Juventus and Inter descended into several ugly brawls after Romelu Lukaku’s goal celebration, with the Belgian, Samir Handanovic and Juan Cuadrado all sent off and punches thrown.

Lukaku had just converted a stoppage-time equalising penalty to cancel out the Juan Cuadrado opener at the Allianz Juventus Stadium in Turin when he made a gesture trying to ‘silence’ the fans behind the goal.

There were some racist ‘monkey noises’ coming from that sector, but as Lukaku was already on a yellow card, he received another for celebrating in a way that was considered provocatory for the opposition fans.

He was understandably furious, but more problems happened after the final whistle, as at first Cuadrado and Handanovic seemed to be having a relatively calm conversation.

However, Handanovic then reacted with utter fury to something that was said and had to be restrained by teammates.

During this tussle, Cuadrado was caught on camera aiming a punch at the goalkeeper. This could be used as evidence against him for a lengthy ban.

However, as this is in the Coppa Italia, it is a separate tournament to Serie A and would only apply to this competition.

There is the possibility it could be extended to Serie A if there is a particularly egregious incident.

Once calm was restored, another fight seemingly broke out in the tunnel.
