Inter fans noticed that after his interview apologising to Nerazzurri fans and infuriating Chelsea, Romelu Lukaku has changed his social media profile to describe himself as an Inter player.

The most recent post on both Instagram and Facebook was December 31, the day that Sky Sport Italia aired the controversial interview in which he promised he’d return to play for the San Siro giants soon.

Lukaku expresses Chelsea regrets and Inter reunion hopes

Just months after his €115m transfer to Chelsea, these comments riled up fans of both clubs and manager Thomas Tuchel, who in retaliation dropped Lukaku from the squad for today’s 2-2 Premier League draw with Liverpool.

Now it has been noted that Lukaku’s Facebook page has ‘Inter Milan’ on the biography section rather than his current club Chelsea.

His Instagram still has Chelsea, while the Twitter account has been deleted.

Lukaku has not made any comment since the Sky Sport Italia interview aired, causing a firestorm at Chelsea, while Inter fans have on the whole refused to accept his apology for walking away.

The ultras put up a banner that read: ‘Those who run away with the rain don’t matter to us. Those who matter are the ones who stay in a storm! Ciao Romelu.’

  1. He doesn’t help himself does he. Now instead of being amicable with 2 clubs he will be hated by both.. but as is customary he will still kiss the badge

  2. And chelsea risk losing their biggest investment of just few months ago because of this stupid human…. wanna copycat balotelli? become a loser? pathethic

  3. Will be interesting to see how Conte navigates this.

As Rom said, he prefers the strike duo setup like he had with Martinez at Inter. Not the lone striker role.

Him and Kane with Sonny and Loucas behind them will make for quite the interesting 2nd Half of the season. With Dier playing half-decent as well in the holding role.

I want to see this. COYS.

  4. Why is he doing this. There’s more to the story than what’s being reported. He’s a smart guy and he knows Inter can not afford him unless they have new owners. I can see him getting so much abuse more than he ever got in his career especially when he was at Man United but this time it’ll be his own fault. He made history with Inter and will remain as one of the best players Inter had but he needs to move on.

  5. I don’t think its fair to say that Inter fans on the whole would not accept Lukaku’s return.

Sure, there are some hard feelings but how long are we expecting Dzeko to contribute, honestly? For the right price, I would welcome him back. Something like 70m euros.

If PIF buy the club and bring him back that would be fantastic. Lets not forget, he is a settled player. Sure, we would MAYBE have to adjust the tactics a bit to re-accomodate him but we could also keep playing as we are, and see how HE adapts.

  6. This could be something for the Salernitanas new owner – yet mission impossible but as a wild idea.
