A Paulo Dybala-Romelu Lukaku swap at Juventus could open the door for Napoli to sign Mauro Icardi, with Inter going for Edinson Cavani.

The transfer merry-go-round could be set in motion when the first striker moves in this interconnected situation.

Multiple sources including Sky Sport Italia and Sportitalia stated last night that Dybala was proposed to Manchester United in exchange for Lukaku and €15-20m cash.

This would be a huge blow for Inter, who have been openly pursuing the Belgium international for weeks and saw several offers rejected.

It’d also mean Inter open warfare with Juventus on the market, so any possibility of Icardi making his sought-after transfer to the Bianconeri would be out of the question.

That opens the door for Napoli and, according to the Corriere dello Sport, agent-wife Wanda Nara can tear up the €7.5m per season contract agreement she’d worked out with Juve director Fabio Paratici.

Napoli still need to convince Inter, who want €60m for the Argentina international, but that’s still less than they were prepared to pay for Nicolas Pepe.

Pepe landed in London this morning for his Arsenal medical in a deal worth €80m from Lille.

As for Inter, with Roma still demanding €20m for Edin Dzeko, it’s rumoured they could turn to Paris Saint-Germain forward Cavani.

He is in the final year of his contract, but the asking price is still €50m for the Uruguay international.
