Romelu Lukaku will become the most expensive player ever sold by a Serie A club if Chelsea sign him for more than €105m.

That’s the fee Manchester United spent to sign Paul Pogba from Juventus in 2016.

The Frenchman is currently the most expensive player ever sold by an Italian club, followed by Gonzalo Higuain who left Napoli in the same transfer window to join with the Bianconeri.

Back in 2001, Juventus star Zinedine Zidane became the most expensive player ever sold by an Italian club after completing a €77.5m move to Real Madrid. He is now third in this special ranking and Lukaku’s move to Chelsea would push the Frenchman to fourth place.

Inter prepare for life after Lukaku, Abraham to Atalanta?

Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s €69.5m move from Inter to Barcelona in 2009 is currently in fourth place, followed by another player sold by Inter: Achraf Hakimi, who joined PSG for €68m earlier this summer. However, the deal came with an extra €2m in bonuses, so Hakimi’s potential transfer fee is €71m.

Inter have already rejected two offers from Chelsea for Lukaku. The second one was worth €100m plus Marcos Alonso.

According to multiple reports in Italy and UK, Inter could eventually sell the Belgian forward for an offer exceeding €120.

That would make Lukaku the most expensive player ever to leave a Serie A club.
